比較級
Comparatives
The form 比較級
Comparatives comparatives depends on the number of syllables in the original adjective. For adjectives with one or two syllables, we often add "-er" to the adjectives. For adjectives with more than two syllables, we add "more" before the adjectives to make comparatives. For example, "big" has one syllable, so its comparative form is "bigger." On the other hand, "beautiful" has three syllables, so its comparative form is "more beautiful." We can use adverbs such as "much," "more," "a lot," or "even" to modify comparative adjectives.
形容詞的比較級,通常看形容詞的「音節數」,再決定是在後面加上 -er ,或是在形容詞前面加上 more。兩個音節內,形成比較級加 -er。三個音節以上,加 more。
例如,big 為單音節,比較級便是 bigger。Beautiful 為三音節,比較級為 more beautiful。
副詞 much、more、a lot、even 皆可用來修飾比較級的形容詞。
