Noun clauses
A noun clause is a clause that plays the role of a noun and can be used as the subject, object, or complement. It starts with words like that, if, whether, where, what, when, how, etc. For example, "This is not what I was expecting for our first date, and I love that." Here, "what I was expecting for our first date." is a noun clause led by the word "what" and it's not a question. Let's look at other example sentences:
