LEAF PEEPERS
In autumn, visitors to the Great Lakes region can see its beautiful leaves

Several states in the Great Lakes region have websites with schedules for leaf-viewing trips.

For example, the Pennsylvania tourism website suggests a route for a three-day trip to look at the leaves.

The schedule also includes a historical district and several museums.

Michigan offers a wide variety of places for lea peepers to visit.

Many of these are located along major highways, which makes them easy to access.(=accessible)

Some places offer the chance to view not only leaves but also the Great Lakes themselves.

The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in western Michigan features lovely beaches and fall foliage.

Visitors can hike up the beach's huge sand dunes for beautiful views.

My new home in South Bend, Indiana, is within a short drive of Indiana Dunes State Park.

It has hiking trails up sand dunes and through forests.

In the fall , the leaves form a canopy of red and yellow.

Beautiful locations like these make the Great Lakes region a perfect place for fans of fall foliage.
