MC JIN
The life chapters of a Chinese-American Rapper
A Chinese-American kid grows up in Miami and does what many Chinese kids do -
he dreams of becoming a rapper.
Chapter1: Battle champion
Loving the rhymes of LLCool J, Jin began memorizing raps and seeking rap battles at a young age.
Though his parents disliked it and opponents insulted his race, Jin continued battling after his family moved to New York.
In 2002, his talent secured him a place on BET TV's Freestyle Friday battle, which he won for seven straight weeks.
Being added to the show's Hall of Fame was his reward.
But more good thins were coming.
Chapter 2: The rest is not history
After Freestyle Friday, Jin appeared as a supporting actor in 2003's Fast 2 furious.
He also became the first Chinese-American rapper to record a solo rap album with a major label.
The Rest Is History was released by Ruff Ryders in 2004, with an aggressive single called Learn Chinese.
However, the album did not live up to its name after a delayed release, poor reviews and low sales.
