Participle Clauses
A participle clause is formed using participles and can be placed before or after the main clause. A participle clause usually has the same subject as the main clause, thus its subject is often omitted. If there are prepositions such as "besides" or "despite," or conjunctions such as "when," "although," or "before" in the original sentence, we can keep them in the clause.

本堂課的重點是分詞構句，主要句型是通常是由一個主要子句外加一個分詞所引導的子句所構成，而分詞構句可以在主要子句之前或之後。

分詞構句中的主詞由於通常與主要子句的主詞「一致」，因此常被省略。在原本的完整句中，若有像是 besides、despite 的介系詞，或是 when、although、before 等的連接詞，則可以不用省略。

When threatened, this little animal would fight back.

當這隻小動物受到威脅時，牠會反擊。

Apart from complaining a little too much, he's quite a gifted guy.
