Banana Bread
A quick, easy sweet bread
Recipe
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup mashed banana
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Steps
1.Turn on oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit (163 degrees Celsius).
2.Lightly grease a 9 X 5 inch (22.9 X 12.7 centimeter) loaf pan.
3.In a large bowl combine flour , baking soda and salt.
4.In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar.
Then sitr in eggs and mashed bananas until well blended.
Add milk and lemon juice.
5.Stir banana mixture and nuts into flour mixture - do not stir too much.
6.Pour into prepared loaf pan.
7.Bake in oven for 60 to 65 minutes.
You can stick a toothpick into the centre of the loaf.
When it comes out clean, the bread is done.
Let the bread cool in its pan for 10 minutes.
Turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
The main ingredient in banana bread is mashed banana.
Don't throw away those very ripe or overly ripe bananas as they are ideal for this recipe.
The riper the banana, the sweeter it tastes!
You can freeze bananas until you are ready to bake.
