Is it ever ok to lie?

Stan and Christy are classmates at school.

I can't believe Mr.Smith was so angry with Alice.

I can. She skipped his class to go see a movie.

But today was the last day that movie was playing.

It's really good, so I can't blamed her for wanting to see it.

Are you serious ?

Going to a movie is not a good reason to skip class.

Regardless, I think Mr.Smith was more upset that Alice lied about why she missed class.

I guess it was easy for him to find out she didn't have a doctor's appointment.

Probably. And now Mr.Smith won't believe her when she really does have to see the doctor.

Maybe, but I honestly don't think that type of lying is a big deal.

Everybody lies. Many people lie multiple times a day.

What do you mean "that type of lying"?

A lie is a lie.

And i don't believe people lie that often.

I read this one study.

It found that in one week a person deceives about 30 percent of the people they talk to.

Really? Why do people lie so much?
